Let's Lou Sang......

Yee Sang is a traditional aspicious dish that symbolises the ushering of good luck, good health, wealth and longevity for the lunar new year.

Yee Sang is normally only available and presented as a dish on 7th day of Chinese New Year. However, people nowadays start eating yee sang even before and throughout the Chinese New Year.

Golden Sun Seafood Restaurant, KL:

Here i am in Golden Sun Seafood Restaurant! I can't remember how many times that i did the "Lou Sang" before and after Lunar New Year. However, it doesn't really matter coz i like to eat the Yee Sang (with salmon). In fact, this tossing is only happen once in a year. So i really don't mind to toss it many times.

Lou Sang is merely the act of mixing together the Yee Sang dishes, which consists of the usual assortment of vegetables like white radish, crispy crackers, bits of pamelo sacs, pickled cucumber and carrots mixed with crumbs of nuts and sweet sauce along with slices of raw fish (usually salmon).

"Lou Sang" Dinner at King Kong's House:

Two days before the Lunar New Year, my brother and sis-in-law invited me to have an early CNY dinner together at their house in Bandar Kinrara before i depart to Bali, Indonesia.
Thanks for their hard work to prepare the dinner as shown in the pictures, except the Yee Sang (my bro bought it from the restaurant nearby). They really put in a lot of effords on it, as i saw there were two cook books lied on the kitchen table for references. Ops! which means, i'm the guinea pig??!!...nevermind as my body is well trained for better immune system.

I don't have any close relatives in KL to celebrate Lunar New Year together, but at least, i have my eldest brother and sis-in-law who always let me feel that i'm not alone!

I like to eat CNY cake during the auspicious festive, especially if my mum prepares it. Last year, my mum gave me one small cake, but till now, it still well keep in my freeze.

In this occasion, I like this cake as it's not oily and also non sticky. It's nice to eat with a bowl of red bean soup. It's just nice!

West Lake Garden Restaurant, Sunway Resort hotel:

Thumbs up for West Lake Garden!! This is not my first time to patron this restaurant. I always agree that they provide not only good service, but also quality food.

Yee Sang, my favourite!
Golden Prosperity Salmon and Snow Pear Yee Sang. The thick salmon pieces are marinated in advance in sea salt to extract the moisture from the salmon, giving it a more crisp texture. The salmon is then soaked in a mixture of Manuka honey, lemon leaf and lemon skin. With this process, the patrons who do not indulge in raw fish because of the bacteria factor need not worry as the Manuka honey has anti-bacterial properties.

Tradition has it that the higher the Yee Sang is tossed the better. At the same time, we have to speak a lot of auspicious words while we did the tossing.

After the main course which consist of steamed chicken, vege and fish. Here it is, the chinese new year cake, one of my favourites. Again, normally they will serve the cake with red bean soup.
